Oceania TransAtlantic

In November 2011 we flew to Rome where we immediately boarded a bus to Civitavecchia and then directly to the ship. We were very disappointed that we were not able to see anything at all of Rome. So that remains on our bucket list. Hopefully on the B2B cruise coming up in November we will cross that one off. We were on the Oceania Cruise line which was our 2nd cruise with them. There were things about the ship that I liked better than Celebrity, such as totally open dining. You can go any time during the dining hours so if one day you feellike dining early or some days you can do so. Also they have 4 specialty restaurants at no additional charge. This was a good thing as we found the food in the main dining room was not all that great. No comparison to the Celebrity. The casino was a joke. Very few machines and very old. Only two machines that I liked to play but getting on them was next to impossible. One old guy would come down just before the casino opened and take both machines. Then if he needed a break someone else in his party would come relieve him. Can't blame this on the ship just very poor manners on the old guys part. The entertainment was not up to the standard of the Celebrity entertainment. And the cost of the cruise was very pricey. The rooms were very large which was nice. The bathroom was a disappointment. They had a tub and a separate shower. Problem is that most of the cruise consisted of senior citizens who have trouble getting in and out of a tub and the shower was like a time capsule. Just don'tdrop your soap.

All in all the crossing was great. Smooth seas and good weather.

Looking forward to our cruise starting in two days. Just a short one but will be enjoyable.

Happy cruzin folks
